Bringing Transparency to the Board Room
Councilwoman Berland spearheaded the initiative to televise all Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meetings for both Cablevision and Verizon subscribers. All recorded meetings are also available on the Town of Huntington’s homepage.

Keeping the Town of Huntington “AAA”
Councilwoman Berland has been instrumental in the maintenance of the Town of Huntington’s AAA bond rating, which is decided upon by three different Wall Street firms. 

Ensuring the ZBA Works for Huntington
Councilwoman Berland sponsored sweeping legislation to ensure that the ZBA is an open and accountable government agency. Members of the Board of Assessment Review, ZBA and Planning Board must possess stringent training and education qualifications and additionally, all ZBA meetings must be open to the public.
