Donating Pet Food to Families in Need

Councilwoman Berland spearheaded the Holiday Pet Food Drive with all proceeds donated to the Harry Chapin Food Bank and Humanitarian Center at Long Island Cares in Huntington Station.

Protecting the Health of Animals

Councilwoman Berland authorized the Department of Public Safety, Animal Control to conduct a free rabies clinic sponsored by the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Inc. (SPCA).

Controlling the Town’s Feral Cat Population
Councilwoman Berland instituted a “Catch and Release” program through the Department of Public Safety to allow the Division of Animal Control safely catch and transport feral cats to local veterinarians to be spayed/neutered and administered rabies and feline leukemia vaccinations and then returned to the location from where they were caught. This program effectively and humanely controls the feral cat populations in the Town and protects our overall health.
